Ruskey film to be shown at DCC in Helena-West Helena

HELENA-WEST HELENA, Ark. – On Tuesday, August 7, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., The Delta Cultural Center in Helena-West Helena, Ark., will showcase a film produced by John Ruskey entitled, “Surfing a 300 Mile-Long Wave.” The film shows Ruskey leading a canoe expedition from Memphis, Tennessee, to Vicksburg during the Great Flood of 2011.  After the screening, Ruskey will discuss the project and answer questions.

Ruskey has been paddling the Mississippi River since 1982 and has extensive canoeing & kayaking experience on the Arkansas, Yazoo, St. Francis, White, Big Sunflower and Big Black Rivers. He has guided National Geographic Adventure, Outside Magazine, the BBC, Irish Public Television, the Food Network, ESPN and other media in various river adventures & expeditions on the Mississippi.
