Casino payments to city stalled

Posted: Thursday, February 21, 2013 8:04 am

The county Board of Supervisors on Wednesday had a very short public meeting followed by an executive session to discuss an ongoing litigation with the city over casino money.

No word yet on when  the county will turn over an estimated $62,000 that it withheld from the city last year in retaliation for the city’s annexation bid. In early February, Circuit Court Judge Johnnie Walls ordered the county to pay the city the money it owes within 30 days, but so far the county has stalled and bought itself time by filing a motion to alter the judge’s judgment.
