Golf tournament: American Legion auction provides opportunity to play on professional course

The Cooper Yerger Post 28 of the American Legion Golf Tournament’s auction at the Clarksdale Country Club on Saturday provided an opportunity to play at the TPC Southwind course in Memphis.

That was one of many rewards the tournament provided.

Hayes Clegg played many new positions for the first time in his football career as a senior at Lee Academy and that earned him a spot in the MAIS All-Star Game at Jackson Prep last Friday.



Clarksdale High starts postseason by hosting Itawamba Agricultural

Clarksdale High School will be looking to bounce back from a 21-14 overtime loss at Greenwood last week when the playoffs open on Friday night, Nov. 2.

The Wildcats (6-4, 3-1) could have won Region 3 in Class 4A with a victory against Greenwood and had a 14-7 advantage going into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on in overtime.


Coahoma County High opens state playoffs with road trip to Eupora

Coahoma County is in the state Class 2A playoffs for the first time in two seasons with a 20-14 victory against West Tallahatchie on Thursday night, Oct. 25

The Red Panthers (3-8, 3-3) are currently riding a two-game winning streak with victories against West Bolivar and West Tallahatchie.
