CCHS opens at West Bolivar

Coahoma County High School football opens the season at West Bolivar at 7 p.m. Friday night.

The Red Panthers, a Region 3-2A school, were in the same district as the Eagles in 2018.

Coahoma County defeated West Bolivar in the second to last regular season game to help themselves get to the playoffs.











Clarksdale's Garrard named 2018 Rural Health Champion for Mississippi

A Clarksdale man was recently recognized for his contributions to health and health care in rural Mississippi communities.

Shane Garrard received the 2018 Rural Health Champion Award during a ceremony held in conjunction with Mississippi Rural Health Day, which was held Tuesday, Nov. 20.



Lee cheerleader to perform at Disney World on Thanksgiving Day

Savannah Oakes, an eighth-grader from Lee Academy in Clarksdale, was selected as one of more than 500 elementary, junior high and high school cheerleaders and dancers from across the country that will represent Varsity Spirit in the 2018 Thanksgiving Tour at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.
