CPU removes fees from Pic-A-Due Date payment program

Clarksdale Public Utilities general manager Curtis Boschert listened to issues customers expressed at community meetings by concerned citizens.

Boschert acted on those concerns during Tuesday’s board meeting by proposing two changes in the standard operating procedure. The proposals were unanimously approved.







Jonestown mayor Kenneth Lester arrested on five counts of embezzlement

Jonestown mayor Kenny Lester is facing up to 100 years in prison after being arrested by the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Dec. 9 for allegedly embezzling residents’ water bill payments and a city police firearm, announced Attorney General Jim Hood on Tuesday, Dec. 11 in a press release.


County to pick up hospital's payroll a third time; total now up to $3.3 million

It turns out the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors must wire Curae Health Inc. money a third time to keep Northwest Mississippi Medical Center open.

The county wired Curae $1,239,565 on Nov. 5 from the county’s reserve fund to pay the employees and $954,784.17 on Nov. 19.
