Gov. Tate Reeves signed HB 1586 Tuesday clearing the way for Coahoma County to borrow up to $4 million from the Hospital Trust Fund to build the Jonestown Bypass and finish construction of the Justice Center and County Fire Station.
Coahoma County property taxes could go up four mills next year as supervisors look at financing final construction costs at the new jail, equipping their E911 center and central county fire station and building the Jonestown bypass.
The City of Clarksdale is following Gov. Tate Reeves orders and voted this week to continue sheltering in place until May 11.
Mayor Chuck Espy reminded residents if they don’t have essential business to tend to, to stay off the streets and he reminded the city a curfew is still in place for the next two weeks.
