Ground Zero's Thanksgiving Eve Blues Party raises money for Sunflower River Fest

A spectacular lineup of blues superstars including Anthony “Big A” Sherrod, “Big T” Williams, Lucious Spiller and James “Super Chikan” Johnson has been booked for the annual Thanksgiving Eve Blues Party at Ground Zero.

The event takes place Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale.







Ten girls to compete in AKA sorority's Fashionetta 2018

Ten girls will be competing in “An Evening of Enchanted Elegance” at the Fashionetta 2018 this Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018.

The event, which will be held at 6 p.m. at The Pinnacle on the Coahoma Community College campus, is the biannual fundraiser of the Iota Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Clark went to work for the city on Dec. 1, 1988, as an accounts payable clerk and became the city’s chief deputy clerk in March 1995.  She became the Clarksdale city clerk in July 2001, a position she’s held for more than 17 years now.

For many folks, the thought of sitting at a desk, poring over financial numbers and shrinking budgets while balancing the pleas of an angry taxpayer with the demands of an elected city official would have them saying, “Thanks, but no thanks.”
But for Cathy Clark, it’s not just a job she likes, it’s a job she loves.




Diane Pimpton is shown inside the MAP of Easton Inc. plant in Clarksdale earlier this year. Originally hired as a temp in the plant’s office in 2000, she’s been the plant manager of the Clarksdale facility for the past four years.

Willingness to work

Hard work and making a difference in her community has been the story of Diane Pimpton’s life.

Pimpton, the plant manager of MAP of Easton Inc. in Clarksdale and owner of the convenience store and gas station Double Dy Express in Tutwiler, is a Webb native and 1989 West Tallahatchie High School graduate.
