Coahoma Community College Football experienced a tough 26-17 loss to Northeast Mississippi Community College. Jawonta Woodruff, Sammy Carter Jr., and Jarod Wetzel debuted their exceptional athletic talent through significant plays during the matchup. The three have been tagged the Coahoma Community College "Athletes of the Week" for the fourth week of the 2019 football season.
Woodruff, a native of Cleveland, Mississippi, is selected the Defensive Player of the Week. The freshman linebacker had an outstanding performance. He led Coahoma with nine tackles including two sacks, two tackles for loss and one pass breakup.
Carter, a native of Quincy, Florida has been chosen as this week's Offensive Player of the Week. The reliable and skilled wide receiver came out of the matchup against Northeast with two catches for 28 yards and a touchdown. He scored a 28-yard touchdown to get the Tigers back in the game.
Wetzel, a CCC athlete from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, have been chosen from as this week's Coahoma Football: Special Teams Player of the Week. The consistent kicker was 1 for 1 field goals. He made a 29-yard field goal to help the Tigers mount a comeback.
