Man dropped off at hospital with gunshot wounds

The Clarksdale Police Department is investigating a shooting after a man was dropped off at the emergency room with multiple gunshot wounds.

Markevius Dear told police in the hospital he did not know how he made it to the emergency room of Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Officers located his car at the intersection of Stovall Road and Lee Drive.

Police were called to the hospital, as they are with all gunshot wounds that come to the hospital, shortly after midnight Thursday morning. He was flown by air ambulance to Region One in Memphis in serious condition.

The case has been turned over to Clarksdale Police Department investigator K. Walker.

Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about this incident to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving this crime.
