Vehicle related crimes dominated the Clarksdale Police blotter this weekend with three auto burglaries, a stolen vehicle and a recovered stolen vehicle listed.
Police remind residents that crooks look for crimes of opportunity and continue to urge car owners to lock their doors, don’t leave valuables inside and never leave the keys in a car.
Clarksdale Police were called to the 400 block of South State Street Friday about an automobile grand larceny after a woman reported her car stolen.
The women told police she left her car running as she quickly ran inside a local store and when she came back out it was gone. The car was later recovered in an alley a short distance away and a weapon had been stolen from the vehicle.
Police continue to crackdown on auto burglaries as the summer tends to see a rise in these crimes.
An auto burglary was reported on Friday in the 700 block of Riley Street where the complainant said someone broke the front passenger window to gain entry to the car. A wallet and weapon were reported stolen.
An auto burglary in the 700 block of McKinley Avenue saw a vehicle entered and a set of keys taken.
On Saturday, police were called to the 100 block of Ritchie Avenue where the victim told police someone went in his truck and stole cash and weapon.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
Police recovered a 1999 Jeep on Friday in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Avenue that had been parked and abandoned. The vehicle was reported stolen in Louisiana.

All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving this crime.
The community is reminded to call police immediately if they spot something suspicious in their neighborhood and officers will respond.
