FRIARS POINT — Mayor James Washington discussed a partnership between the town of Friars Point and Coahoma Community College that would help individuals get their GEDs.
“We’ve already signed an agreement with the college,” Washington said during Tuesday’s city council meeting.
James Washington, of Clarksdale, was fishing along the banks of the Mississippi River on Saturday afternoon. Washington was fishing for catfish in the popular spot near Gary Gammel Memorial Park in Friars Point. ‘You used to be able to catch them all day, every day.
Congratulations to 2014 Clarksdale High School graduate Juantavius “J.T.” Gray for getting picked up by the New Orleans Saints after this past weekend’s National Football League Draft.
When the Clarksdale Care Station was in need, the community came through.
Juantavius “J.T.” Gray has found a home in the National Football League.
Gray, a 2014 Clarksdale High School graduate, played the past four seasons with Mississippi State at the linebacker position the first three years and defensive back as a senior.

For John and Naomi Casaceli, a holiday brought about a move to another continent and opening a bar and grill featuring live music in the home of the blues.
“Holidays have always been a problem,” Naomi said with a laugh on a recent Friday afternoon.
