The Clarksdale Police department has released the following information on felony crimes, including the arrest of a woman for allegedly shooting a car in April.
Henrika Smith, 27, was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of drive by shooting for the Tuesday April 6, shooting of a vehicle with an occupant in the 1500 block of North State Street.
Police reports said the complainant told police at the time of the incident a female followed her from her resident and while driving down the street her car was fired upon by the following car.
Police reports indicate a bullet apparently hit the rear of the complaint’s car but no one was injured. The victim told police she has been harassed by the suspect.
Police said an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect.
Smith was arraigned in Clarksdale Municipal Court where bond is set.
Shooting into a dwelling
Police were called to the 400 block of Garfield Street at about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, after the occupant reported their home had been shot at.
No one was injured in the incident that is being classified as an aggravated assault.
House shot, TV hit
The Clarksdale Police Department has responded to a call of shots fired where a mid Clarksdale house was shot into and while nobody was injured in the gunfire, a television in the house was hit.
Police are also looking for information on a residential burglary on Florida Street that occurred over the weekend.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Sixth Street at 2:11 p.m. Saturday after Amer Gatewood discovered her television had been shot.
Gatewood told police she heard several shots being fired several days earlier, but didn't find out her television had been shot until Saturday. She told police she then saw where her house had been shot and a bullet came through a wall.
The case has been turned over to Investigator G. Johnson.
Residential Burglary
Police are investigating the burglary of a Florida Street apartment and are asking for the community's help in solving this crime.
Police were called to the 600 block of Florida Street about 8:30 p.m. Sunday after Marvin Michael said he came home to find his house had been broken into.
Michael told police when he drove up he saw a man coming out of his residence with a television in his arms and he ran away. Michael told police two televisions and a Play Station 4 were stolen.
The case was assigned to Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez.
Chief Ramirez has asked anyone with information about this incident to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving a crime.
Residents across Clarksdale are also being asked to keep a watch on their neighbor's houses and call if they see someone suspicious in their neighborhood.
Shots Fired
The Clarksdale Police Department was called to the following location after receiving a call of shots fired.
• Cheyenne and Pine Street – shell casing found.
• 200 Block of Russell Street, nothing found.
Police are also asking residents to call when they hear shots fired in their neighborhood, give a location of where the shot came from and police will respond to the scene and check for evidence.
