Coahoma Community College has a skilled and dedicated team will work with business and industry to develop a training curriculum to meet those needs.
Coahoma Community College can provide a large range of services including: employee assessment, assistance in screening/training potential employees, skills upgrade training for current employees and leadership training for management.
Whatever the training needs may be, the Workforce Development Center is here to work with business and industry to meet those needs.

Workforce Training
The Workforce Development Center is committed to training for the future workforce.
Working closely with the WIN Job Center and area businesses/industries, classes and curriculum are developed to provide short-term training for individuals seeking to enter the workforce or upgrade their skills.
Coahmoa Community College keeps abreast of current labor market trends to offer training that will meet the workforce needs in the community, as well as providing a marketable skill for individuals.
Adult Education
The Adult Education Program offers training that will enhance one's opportunities in obtaining and retaining employment.
Most employers require a high school diploma or GED, as well as some basic computer knowledge. These programs assist individuals in obtaining those goals.
Coahoma Community College now requires all students to have a high school diploma/GED to enter ANY program.
The Adult Education Program is open to any Mississippi resident, 17 years of age or older, that are not currently enrolled in a public, private or home instructional program.
The AE/GED classes are self-paced and finishing in a specific time frame depends solely on the individual. Classes are also free to the public.
All programs are funded by the Mississippi Community College Board.
The Adult Education Programs offer adults a chance to prepare for the General Educational Development test (GED), college entrance, vocational-technical education, employment, or promotion on the job.
This program is also open to help anyone who wants to improve their basic skills for employment or retaining their employment.
Those eligible for the GED test are:
• Individuals who are not enrolled in high school.
• Individuals who meet state requirements regarding age, residency (at least 30 days), and the length of time since leaving school.
• Special exceptions must be met by those who are 16 and 17 years old.
The GED test is a five hours long test taken in sections. The cost of the complete battery of tests is a non-refundable $120. To retake any subject area, the cost is $30 per test. And students can test three times on the same subject without waiting. After the third attempt, there is a 60-day waiting period before retesting.
To pass the test, scores must average 600 with no individual subtest score falling below 150.
Students receive a free official GED testing voucher when students complete a minimum of 40 classroom hours and pass the GED read exam.
There are definite advantages to holding a GED certificate:
• About 95-percent of U.S. colleges and universities accept GED graduates in the same manner as high school graduates.
• At Coahoma Community College you receive a FREE SEMESTER (tuition only) when you obtain your GED through the Adult Basic Education Program.

MI-BEST
The MI-BEST Program at CCC allows students to advance and accelerate their career training program!
MI-BEST incorporates academic skill development, career advising, work-readiness training, and workforce training through Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Career and Technical Education course work. The workforce training program allows students to:
• Be job ready in 6-12 months
• Train in high demand careers
• Earn national certifications quickly
• Professional support team for student success
What is MI-BEST?
MI-BEST is an innovative workforce training program dedicated to preparing people who need help with foundational skills for careers by mixing career training with additional support for math, writing, and reading inside the classroom. This student first approach give participants the skills they need to succeed in school and compete in the workforce by working on technical and basic skills education at the same time while also providing support services to students through a navigator and Student Servies. The navigator helps students complete college paperwork, provides general support, and develops plans for students to meet their goals, tracks student progress and makes referrals as needed. Student Services will conduct a skills assessment, assists with resume writing, job search activities, training services, career counseling, and provides job referrals.
The goals of MI-BEST are to:
• Assist students who need to earn their GED to do so while they are also enrolled in college courses focused on preparing them for a career
• Help students to earn one or more certifications that helps them get a better job now with a family sustaining wage
• Allow students to earn college credit that leads to a degree in the future
Who can participate?
MI-BEST is open to students without a high school diploma who wants to train for a career and needs additional help with:
• Math
• Reading and/or
• Writing
In order to determine if this program applies to you, you will need to take the Career Readiness Certificate and the TABE test. These tests will be administered during a MI-BEST Orientation and Registration session.
How do you know if you need help with college math, reading, and writing?
• If you have not earned your High School Diploma or GED
• If you have your High School Diploma/GED but it has been a while since you have went to school
• If you took the COMPASS or ACCUPLACER test and tested into developmental education courses.

MI-BEST programs are offered on CCC's main campus inside the McLaurin Building.
Classes will begin every semester. If interested, complete the interest form below and the campus navigator will contact you.
What's Next?
MI-BEST students will be assigned a Navigator while they are in the program. The purpose of the Navigator is to help you succeed in school. They will serve as your main point of contact while you are in the program. The Navigator will help you:
• Enroll in MI-BEST
• Apply for financial aid (for those who qualify)
• Apply for MI-BEST Scholarships
• Register for the right courses for the job you want
• Develop plans for your academic and career goals
The purpose of Student Services is to help you get a good paying job once you earn your certificate through the MI-BEST Program. The Career Coach will help you with:
• Resume writing
• Job search activities
• Training services
• Career exploration and counseling
• Job referrals
