Delta Council and Delta F.A.R.M. will hold the 8th annual Future Delta event this afternoon, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Stovall Gin, in conjunction with the inaugural Mighty Roots Music Festival in Stovall.
Future Delta is intended to recognize and gather the Delta’s future leaders (40ish and younger) who are involved in farming and allied agricultural businesses in our 19-county region.
Mac Marshall, economist and director of market intelligence for the U.S. Soybean Export Council and United Soybean Board, will be the featured speaker. Marshall, who was previously in similar roles with Bayer and Monsanto, will speak about the ever-changing world trade and foreign policy disruptions that have an impact on domestic agricultural markets.
In addition, Delta Strong Chairman Wade Litton of Greenwood will give a presentation on Mississippi Delta population trends and what that portends for the agricultural community, Coahoma County, the Mississippi Delta and the State of Mississippi.
The Mighty Roots Music Festival will be Friday and Saturday and is being hosted by Steve Azar and Howard Stovall, who have a connection to Coahoma County agriculture and deep roots in the Mississippi Delta.
