They never stopped feeding the hungry and the Care Station is once again publicly urging the hungry to line up for their monthly mobile food pantry.
The Care Station will host their mobile food pantry distribution Wednesday at the Expo Center. Approximately 13-tons of food was distributed in their last effort.
The community is reminded they must register as part of the program to make sure qualified individuals and homes in Coahoma County and Clarksdale are served first. A photo ID is required.
The distribution will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at 1150 Wildcat Drive in Clarksdale.
Food sacks will be distributed to vehicles and all are required to wear a protective mask to keep those distributing food from getting coronavirus.
Only three vouchers will be served per car and no more than three households per car.
Registration will start before the distribution and vehicles are being asked to line up and occupants must stay in their car or truck.
The mobile food pantry is open and free to all residents who qualify for:
• SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits or food stamps.
• Home Energy Assistance from CPU, Coahoma Opportunity or any energy provider.
• SSI (Supplemental Security Income).
• Public Housing.
• TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
• Medicare/Medicaid.
Those wanting to be served can also complete and sign a self-declaration of income statement showing total home income below the poverty line to receive food.
Food distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis as long as food lasts.
Again food will only be distributed to those who can show they are a resident of Coahoma County.
The Care Station has fed people daily in Clarksdale for more than a year and has conducted several of these mobile pantry food distribution events since March. Please help them help you.
