Lee Academy’s softball team improved to 9-5 on the season after winning a pitcher’s duel against Oak Hill Academy 3-1 Tuesday.
Pitcher Jett Harrell allowed just three hits.
The Fillies opened up scoring in the first inning, when Faith Carter Bailey tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Harrell took the win for Lee. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out 13.
Bailey led Lee Academy Fillies Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Lee lost 10-2 to Marshall Academy Monday.
Harrell took the loss going seven innings, allowing 10 runs on 14 hits and striking out five.
The Fillies totaled eight hits.
Olivia Smith and Harrell each collected multiple hits for Lee. Smith went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Fillies in hits. Lee Academy Fillies Varsity did not commit a single error in the field. Meri Logan Jackson had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
Lee defeated Pillow Academy 5-2 on Saturday.
The game was tied 1-1 with Lee batting in the top of the third when Bailey's sacrifice fly scored one run for Lee.
In the first inning, the Fillies got their offense started. Lee scored one run when Bella Favi singled.
In the bottom of the first inning, Pillow Academy tied things up at one.
Harrell was the winning pitcher for Lee. Harrell lasted four innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.
Harrell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Fillies in hits. Lee did not commit a single error in the field. Jackson had the most chances in the field with six.
Lee lost 1-0 to Washington School on Saturday.
Washington School took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Washington School pitchers struck out three, while Lee sat down six.
One bright spot for Lee was a single by Emily Grace Smith in the fifth inning.
Harrell took the loss for Lee. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over four innings, striking out six and walking zero.
