Delta Community Solutions will host a virtual community meeting to give strategies to prevent unintended Medicaid and CHIP coverage loss as the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Ends.
Continuous Medicaid enrollment has allowed people to retain coverage and get needed care during the pandemic. When the COVID-19 public health emergency ends, most people will likely continue to be eligible for either Medicaid or CHIP coverage, but a massive number of renewals will test the system. Every level of government, the health sector, and community partners should help plan to ensure that the end of the public health emergency doesn’t push thousands of Mississippians into the ranks of the uninsured and create even more significant health disparities.
Delta Community Solutions (DCS), of Greenwood, Mississippi Health Advocacy Program (MHAP), of Jackson, and Health Help Mississippi (HHM), also of Jackson will host the event.
Garrett Hall, Policy Analyst with Families USA, a speaker out of Washington, D.C., will be one of the featured speakers.
The event is from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 10:00 am to 11:00 am
The meeting will provide strategies that states can employ to mitigate inappropriate coverage loss. While the methods shared in the session may be used during and immediately after the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), they all have broad applicability beyond the PHE period.

Health Help Mississippi (HHM) is a non-profit consumer assistance program committed to providing assistance, resources, and health education to individuals, families, and small businesses as they navigate the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. HHM is designed to serve those who need assistance with enrollment, claims, denials, and disputes.
