Kids are reminded that Santa Claus and the Clarksdale Police Department are watching them this holiday season.
Clarksdale traditionally sees an increase in minor crime during the holiday season as juveniles are tempted to burglarize automobiles, be involved in minor theft and altercations with others.
The Clarksdale Police Department reminds parents they are making an extra effort this Christmas to keep city streets and neighborhoods free and safe from auto burglary, theft, shoplifting and vandalism. Clarksdale’s curfew ordinance states:
“It shall be unlawful for any minor to remain, idle, wander, stroll or play in or upon any public street or to cruise about without a set destination in any vehicle, on any street or public place in the city beginning at 9 p.m. during weekdays, specifically on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening and beginning at 10:59 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, and ending the following day at 5:30 a.m.”
