Ten girls will be competing in “An Evening of Enchanted Elegance” at the Fashionetta 2018 this Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018.
The event, which will be held at 6 p.m. at The Pinnacle on the Coahoma Community College campus, is the biannual fundraiser of the Iota Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Katina Rankin, news anchor with the Channel 24 television station in Memphis, will be serving as the host. Entertainment will be provided by the Jazzy Divas and the CCC barbershop quartet.

Princess D. McCray
Princess D. McCray is the 17-year-old daughter of Arlitha and Reginald Jackson and Patrick McCray. Princess is a principal’s list student at Clarksdale High School and participates in a variety of school activities. She excels in academics and is enrolled in dual-education classes. She plays softball, is a library assistant, and says her favorite subjects are English and SREB–Literacy.
Princess attends King’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church where she is a youth usher and a member of the choir.
Maya Breanne Hunter
Maya Breanne Hunter is a senior dual-enrollment student at Coahoma Early College High School. She is the daughter of Jeffery and Carolyn Hunter of Clarksdale.
She is a principal’s list student who serves as the vice president of the Student Body, and co-captain of the CECHS cheerleading squad. She is also a member of the National Beta Club, the Tri-County Workforce Academy, Community Humanities Involvement Club (CHIC), and the Aspen Institute.
Maya attends City of Truth Church.
Khalilah (Lele) Newson
Khalilah is the 17-year-old daughter of John and LaTonya Newson of Clarksdale and one of four siblings.
Khalilah is a senior at Clarksdale High School. She is a principal’s list scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha's Community Humanities Involvement Club (CHIC), where she participates in multiple community services.
Khalilah dreams of becoming a nurse anesthetist and a fashion boutique owner.
She is a member of Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Anansia Q. Carter
Anansia Q. Carter is the 14-year-old daughter of Alphonso and Earlcine Carter of Drew.
Anansia is an active participant in school clubs and the Community Humanity Involvement Club (CHIC), Technology Student Association, Pre-Law Club and Drama Club. Her favorite class is history. She is a ninth-grade honor student at Cleveland Central High School
Her interests are history, law, community service, reading, baking with her grandmother and spending time with family.
AnaLeia King
AnaLeia King is the 12-year-old daughter of Betty Jean King. She is in the seventh grade at Higgins Middle School, where she excels as a superintendent list student.
At Higgins, she is a member of the superintendent’s Student Advisory committee and was voted Miss Seventh Grade for the 2018 Homecoming festivities. This young lady of many interests plays tennis, has had success as an actress, designs clothing, and plays the violin, among other things.
AnaLeia’s ambition is to become a doctor.
She is an active member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Morgan Elizabeth Medford
Morgan Elizabeth Medford, the daughter of Walter and Natasha Medford is a third-grade student at Germanshire Elementary School.
She is a member of the reading club and plays the piano. Morgan enjoys drawing, swimming, hanging out with friends and family.
Her future aspirations include attending college to become a doctor or an educator.
Kyla Danielle Powell
Kyla Danielle Powell is a 9-year-old fourth-grade honor student at R.H. Bearden Elementary. She resides in Drew and is the daughter of Keith Powell and Kabresha Spicer.
Kyla is a member of the Jazzy Divas dance team, takes karate classes, and is actively involved with the praise team and Sunday school in her dad’s church. She is also a student at a Saturday school named STAR (Spiritually Tenacious and Academically Ready).
She has received awards for the principal’s list, Student of the Month, Outstanding Student Achievement Award, and Academic Achievement Awards, and trophies for being proficient and advanced on state assessments.
Her ambition in life is to become a pediatrician.
Peiton Ma’ryah Clinton
Peiton Ma’ryah Clinton is the 9-year-old daughter of Paulette Howze and Kondrick Clinton. She is in the fourth grade and attends B.L. Bell Academy.
Peiton is a Delta Arts Alliance School of Dance student; she is one of the founding members of Delta Arts Alliance’s Performance Dance Team. She also attends storytelling class at Delta Arts Alliance. Peiton enjoys making DIY projects and sketching fashion designs.
Peiton is a Junior in Girl Scout Troop 33169.
Peiton is a member of Vernon Memorial Apostolic Faith Church. She is a Junior Usher and a member of the Youth Choir.
Kaidence Ryleigh Dennis
Kaidence is the lovely 7-year-old daughter of Keith and Rosland Dennis of Cordova, Tenn.
She attends the First Assembly Christian School in Cordova where she is a second-grade honor student. She enjoys reading, singing and dancing, but her favorite past time is being spoiled by mom and dad. Although her days are usually filled with school and studying, she still finds time to work on the computer and watch her favorite shows on the Disney Channel.
She and her family attend the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Collierville, Tenn., where she is learning to love God and make Him her example to follow.
Alayna Whitley Williams
Alayna Whitley Williams is the 9-year-old daughter of Otha and Ann Williams of Lyon. Alayna is currently in the fourth grade at Delta Academy, where she is a member of the elementary cheer squad and basketball team. Her favorite classes are science and reading.
Alayna's interests include reading, dancing, and singing in the choir at New Covenant, where she is an active member. Her after-school interests include playing with her pet terrier Bob, youth ministry, learning to play the piano and dancing with the Jazzy Divas.
Alayna's ambitions are to attend Alcorn State University and become a medical doctor or teacher.
