A new study released by SmartAsset ranks the top places in Mississippi for small business owners and Coahoma County ranked eighth in the state.
The study weighs three factors: the percentage of people in a county with small business income, the proportion of that income to overall income and taxes paid by small business owners.
According to the study, Coahoma County is one of the top places in Mississippi for small business owners.
Madison County ranked No. 1, followed by Lafayette, Adams, Leflore, Lamar, Sunflower, Humphreys and then Coahoma County. Hinds and Marion counties rounded out the top 10.
Mississippi ranked higher than both Alabama and Arkansas and much higher than most of the East Coast.
