Trust is described in Webster’s dictionary as: … a firm belief or confidence in the honesty, integrity, reliability, justice, etc. of another person or thing; faith, reliance. Do people view you in this manner?
All of us want to be trusted but can we be? Many of us say “Yes” I am trustworthy and do everything we can to fulfill the obligations of trust. The problem is that we may try to be trustworthy but we are living in a sinful and hateful world.
As hard as we try to be that perfect person who people can count on, our actions, mannerisms, and thoughts will let us down.
As we grow and mature we are going to make friends, especially the ones we fall in love with and want to be with the rest of our lives.
Our spouses are going to become our best friend and the one that we trust with all our heart. Great marriages remain intact for many, many years until one of the two loses the trust of the other and then you are going to see a marriage crumble. Once trust is lost it is almost impossible to recover.
The same holds true with our neighbors and friends.
Even though we have faith in our loved ones, family, friends, neighbors, and others, someone is going to say something or do something that is going to taint the faith that has taken years to earn. It takes very special relationships, friends, and neighbors to go through life with complete trustworthiness in each other and then most of this is only on the surface.
Even though we live in a very sinful world we are told in Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
When someone trusts you, the peace between you will be kept as long as that trust lasts.
The Bible also tells us that it is the Lord in whom we are to trust, not ourselves, not our plans, and certainly not the wisdom of society.
Jesus is the only one that we can truly put our trust and have complete confidence in. All of society and its ways will disappear one day but Jesus will be everlasting. When we put our complete trust in Him our nature will to be like Him.

Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
If only we could all be like Jesus and put the world behind us.
The only way we can follow Jesus and His example is to get on our knees and ask Him to be Lord and Savior of our life. He is the only one that we can truly trust. All of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones are human and the world is pulling at them from every direction.
