Delta Strong Chairman Wade Litton is pleased to announce the hiring of Britt Herrin as the new director of the regional economic development entity.
Herrin, a native of Quitman County, has been a lauded economic developer throughout his career, mainly in Mississippi. “We are excited that Britt has joined the Team at Delta Council, and he will immediately hit the ground running”, said Litton, a businessman from Leflore County. “Britt knows our region, he knows how to recruit and work with business, and he knows how to close deals.”
Herrin was previously director of the Tate County Economic Development Foundation. Before that, he had long stints in Webster Parrish, La., McComb and Pike County and he began his career in 1989 in Indianola and Sunflower County.
“Delta Council has worked with Britt since he first came to Indianola after college, and continued to work with him as he was the leader of a regional partnership in Southwest Mississippi that worked with us in the Mississippi Delta,” said Bubba Simmons, President of Delta Council. “When we had the opportunity to hire him, we seized the opportunity.”
He graduated high school from Delta Academy in Marks and the University of Mississippi. In addition to his job postings, Herrin has earned several certifications in the economic development business including Certified Economic Development Finance Professional with the National Development Council; Professional Community and Economic Developer with the Community Development Council; and he also attended The Legislative Project Management School at The Leadership Institute.
He has served as President of the Mississippi Economic Development Council, President of the Senatobia Rotary Club, leadership positions within his church, and numerous boards and committees in economic development and workforce training.
Herrin, and his wife, Darla, are planning on residing in Greenville. He has two adult daughters.
