Mildred Caswell Marion died August 16, 2022, at the age of 100 at The Blake in Ridgeland, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Granville Dee Caswell and Leona Light Caswell.
She was born in Bonnieville, Kentucky on August 29, 1921, and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She was one of three sisters, all of whom married Baptist Ministers.
Mildred worked at the Bank of Clarksdale for many years. Everyone knew her to have a heart of gold and to be an encourager to all. The Golden Rule was her motto, and she lived it. She will always be remembered for her love of the Lord, love of her family, love of her church, and generosity of spirit. Mildred wanted everyone to know that she felt very fortunate and blessed to have lived such a wonderful life as her Savior, Jesus Christ, sustained and guided her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Lucius B. Marion, Jr.; her daughters, Barbara Ann Marion and Carol Marion Fullilove; her son, Lucius B. Marion, III; and her grandson, Robert Marshall Fullilove.
She is survived by her son, Charles Fuller Marion, Sr. (Anne) of Ridgeland and her son-in-law, Thomas L. Fullilove, III, “Tommy” of Duncan; grandchildren, Thomas, L. Fulilove, IV, “Scooter” of Alligator, Lucius B. Marion, IV, “Luke” of Huntsville, Ala., Carrys Sasser, (Scott) of Spanish Fort, Ala., Charles Fuller Marion, Jr. (Christy) of Jackson and Carol Anne Miconi (Warren) of Jackson. She also leaves 11 great grandchildren.
The family wants to thank Angela Hawkins who organized and managed the care given to Mildred while at Flowers Manor in Clarksdale, along with Consonya Jones, Joyce Logan, Debra Mitchell, and Pauline Logan. Their compassionate support was a true blessing. We thank the staff at The Blake in Ridgeland where she completed the last year of her life for their love and caring support. We also thank the Kare-In-Home staff for their Hospice care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarksdale Baptist Church, 401 First Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from11 to12 followed by funeral services at Clarksdale Baptist Church. Graveside services followed at Oakhurst Cemetery. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
