The Family and Youth Opportunities Division Inc. will be celebrating its seventh annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet this Saturday, Jan. 5.
The banquet will be held at the Isle of Capri Hotel/Casino in the Flamingo Bay ballroom, starting at 6 p.m. The honorable John R. Hilliard, of Birmingham, Ala., will be the keynote speaker.
Hilliard is a member of the Birmingham City Council and is chair of the council’s Economic Development Committee and a member of the Governmental Affairs/Public Information and Transportation and Communications committees.
He is a lifelong resident of Pratt City and a longtime public servant having served his community in the Alabama State Legislature for 10 years and has been a representative on the State Democratic Executive Committee for over 20 years.
“The goal is keeping the dream alive. We do not want Dr. King’s dream, work or struggle to be forgotten,” said Dr. Mary Frances Dear-Moton, CEO/president of the non-profit Family and Youth Opportunities Division.
