A spectacular lineup of blues superstars including Anthony “Big A” Sherrod, “Big T” Williams, Lucious Spiller and James “Super Chikan” Johnson has been booked for the annual Thanksgiving Eve Blues Party at Ground Zero.
The event takes place Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale.
“We are excited and most appreciative of these talented musicians performing for our Sunflower Festival’s annual fundraiser and to Bill Luckett and his staff for hosting the event,” said Melvita Tillis Presley, chairman of the Sunflower River Blues Association.
“With door prizes, dancing and the recognition of global and local visitors, it has become a popular and fun holiday tradition, as well as a showcase of Clarksdale’s incredible musical talent,” she said.
The party supports the annual Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival and helps keep it free and open to the public. Staged entirely by volunteers, the festival is operated by a non-profit organization, the Sunflower River Blues Association, that raises funds to pay musicians and production costs from patrons, partners, sponsors and grants.
The 32nd festival is scheduled for Aug. 9-11, 2019.
