Ronnie Ambrose Barton, born January 19, 1955 in Chicago, IL was the oldest son of Callie A. Ward.
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age under the pastorship of the late Rev. Dr. S.L.A. Jones at the Calvary Baptist Church. There he loved singing "Blessed Quietness" in the choir.
He graduated from Aggie High School in 1973. His dad then enrolled him in college at Wilberforce University in Ohio. There he pledged to the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
He worked for the State of Ohio helping young people find jobs. He lived in Dayton most of his adult life. A few years after retiring, he returned to Clarksdale to live with his mother. He spent a lot of his time in puzzle books, watching T.V. and walking for exercise.
He passed this life April 20, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his dad W. Alexander Barton, brother David Barton and step dad A.L. Ward, Sr.
Here to cherish his memories are his mother Callie A. Ward of Clarksdale; a sister Sandra J. Barnes (Montie) of Hampton, Va.; five brothers, Kenneth Jones of Providence, R.I., A.L. Ward, Jr. and Marvin Ward both of Clarksdale, Stanley Barton of Ridgeland and Dr. John Barton of Zachary, La.; a great aunt Katie Whitlock of Chicago, Ill. (103 years old); three God sisters, Eric Woodard (Eddie) of Arlington, Tenn.; Metra Myles of Winstonville and Maggie Washington of Clarksdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services are Saturday, April 30 at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry James leading the Service. The body will
