The Coahoma Early College High School boys and girls both maintained their second place standings in the district with victories at home Friday night against Water Valley.
The Tigers won 59-23, while the Lady Tigers won 69-24.
The CECHS boys and Water Valley were tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter and the Tigers led 18-16 with 2:07 remaining in the first half.
However, the Tigers closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 26-18 halftime lead and never looked back.
Trey Payno led the way with 16 points followed by Thomas Williams Jr. with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Rashard McCray had eight points, while Willie Eagins, Daterrion Coley and Trevion Jackson had six each.
Payno also had six steals in the victory.
The Tigers opened the second half on a 23-2 run to take a 49-20 lead with 1:12 remaining in the third quarter.
Jeremell Daniels, who had five steals in the victory, got things going with back-to-back 3-pointers.
The Tigers are back in action Friday night at Madison Palmer High School with tipoff for the boys game scheduled at around 7:30 p.m.
The Dragons are winless in district play as of Tuesday night.
In the Lady Tigers win, the contest was one-sided.
On Tuesday night, however, the Lady Tigers lost at North Panola 41-37.
This came after beating North Panola at home one week earlier 64-50.
The Lady Tigers are also at Madison Palmer on Friday night where they will try to bounce back.
