Lee Academy’s girls soccer team is off to an 0-3 start on the season, but new coach Austin Jackman saw signs of improvement in the third game.
The Fillies lost 7-0 at Indianola in their only conference game to date on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The Fillies lost at home to Magnolia Heights School 6-0 and then lost 3-1 at home against Washington School Monday night.
Taylor Webster scored on a penalty kick for Lee against Washington School after getting fouled in the box.
Mary Evelyn Evans is the goalie for Lee.
“They’re getting there,” Jackman said. “It’s a slow, slow process and they’ve come a long way since April, when I took the job. Like I said, our performance last night, I couldn’t be more proud of them. They played soccer. We strung passes together. We kept the ball, created chances, just a little bit unlucky on the day.”
The Fillies hosted Bayou Academy in a conference matchup Wednesday and St. Joe at 4 p.m. Aug. 22 in a non-conference game.
