Clarksdale senior defensive back Aikee Matthews created two turnovers instrumental in the 21-16 playoff win at home against Itawamba Agricultural High School last week.
One was a fumble recovery at the Indians 27-yard-line to set up a touchdown giving the Wildcats (7-4, 3-1) at 21-10 lead. The other was at the Clarksdale 7 with 7:26 remaining in the first half to help his team maintain a 6-3 lead.
His performance earned him the Press Register player of the week.
Clarksdale will be at Louisville for the second round of the playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.
