Senior running back Alshun Ross lost two fumbles for Coahoma County, but he came through when it mattered most.
Ross caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in the final minute to give the Red Panthers a 20-14 win at home against West Tallahatchie Thursday night. He also ran for a touchdown. The win means the Red Panthers open the playoffs at Eupora on Friday night.
Ross’ performance earned him the Press Register player of the week honor as the Red Panthers won their second consecutive game.

Lee Academy: Senior Rutledge Agostinelli is the starting center, but showed his versatility when a teammate was injured and he moved to defensive tackle in a 41-6 playoff loss at Heritage Academy.
Clarksdale: Sophomore Josh Hollins had two sacks, one forced fumble and one interception in a 21-14 overtime loss at Greenwood. He is also the punter.
The Wildcats will host Itawamba Agricultural in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night.
Coahoma Early College: Junior Demarco Williams caught a 59-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Willie Eagins in a 47-12 loss at Independence.
The loss mathematically eliminated the Tigers from postseason contention. They needed a win with help.
