Betty Cobb Harlow Townsend, 91, of Clarksdale, a former owner operator Friars Point Motors and Shamrock Gardens, died Aug. 2, 2021 at her home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Family service will be held after graveside at St. Georges Episcopal Church. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
She was a Past President of the Garden Club. She loved bridge, mahjong, tennis and dancing. She graduated Clarksdale High School and attended MSCW. She was a member of St Georges Episcopal Church where she also served as an altar guild.
Survivors include two sons William "Bill" G. Harlow (Robin) of Clarksdale and Eugene M. Harlow, Sr. (Jan B) of Laurel, daughter Camille Harlow Haney (Kent) of Clarksdale, son-in-law Ralph Chapman of Clarksdale, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pascol J. Townsend, daughter Lisa Harlow Chapman, parents Henry Rightor Cobb, Sr. and Frances Camille Meacham Mills and her brother Henry R. Cobb, Jr.
