Police investigating 3 shooting, one at famed Crossroads

The Clarksdale Police Department responded to three shootings in a four-day span last week, including two linked to the community’s famed Crossroads.
Police have made an arrest in one of the shootings and have warrants for the arrest of two suspects believed linked to the two other shootings.

CARES Act funds promoting Clarksdale

The Visit Clarksdale Tourism Commission is using the $189,750 it received in CARES Act funds to promote safe travel to Clarksdale for areas within a six-hour radius.
Expenditures from the CARES Act funds highlighted discussion during the board meeting earlier this month.

Coahoma County COVID-19 cases double in 13 days

Testing in Coahoma County last week has seen the number of new cases of COVID-19 rise with 33 new cases reported Thursday. There have been no new deaths reported since July 20.

The county reported 276 total cases as of Friday, July 17 and that number has skyrocketed with 350 new cases reported in just 13 days.

The Coahoma County School District board voted to name Scott the Coahoma County Red Panthers’ high school football coach during the May board meeting. Scott succeeds Mario Lane, who was the coach for two seasons.
