DPS Most Wanted list proves successful with multiple captures in under a week

On January 8, the Department of Public Safety in coordination with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation released a Most Wanted List with 10 individuals who were of high priority to be detained in Mississippi.

Since releasing the list, five of those individuals have already been apprehended.

New Year’s gunshots hit Supervisor’s home

A bullet came through the home of District 3 Board of Supervisors member Derrell Washington at around 12:15 a.m. New Year’s Day.

Washington filed a report with the Clarksdale Police Department. While he was not at home at the time of the shooting, other members of his family were and called him. Six individuals live in the home.

The MSU Extension Office will host Fun with Food from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 and Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the Extension Office at 503 East Second in Downtown Clarksdale.

The event will teach basic cooking skills, knife safety, measuring and how to propertly read a recipe and is open to kids from fourth to sixth grade.

In a sweeping move, Espy said there will be no gatherings of more than 10 people in the city, his statement was echoed by Newson for the county.
