Dillard Dee Melton Sr.

Dillard Dee Melton, Sr., 86, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at his home in Tutwiler.

Mr. Dillard was a workaholic, avid hunter and cotton grower who lived and breathed farming.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alice Melton of Brazil; a daughter, Deanna Moorman of Brazil; three sons, Scottie Melton and Mike Melton (Sheila) of Brazil and Dillard Jr. (Sandi) of Cleveland; three sisters, Darlene Moorman (J.W.) of Oakland, Maudine McNeer of Teco, and Jean Clark of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Bobby Melton (Gussie) of Charleston; 11 grandchildren, Gaye Melton, Scott Melton Jr, Chelsea Melton, Lara Melton, Dillard D. Melton III (Beau), Anna Melton Vaughn, Ryan Moorman, Skyler Moorman, Constance Moorman, Josh Melton and Ciji Sanders; 10 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Logan Melton; his parents, Fred and Myrtle Melton; three sisters and four brothers.

The family held a visitation and funeral service on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Interment will follow at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sumner Baptist Church.

Arrangements were by Newsom Funeral Home in Charleston.
