Katherine Furr

Katherine Furr, 89, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at her home in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Katherine loved serving Coahoma County for 16 years as a county supervisor. She was a very dedicated lady.

Survivors include: her son, Jim Furr, III, of Buford, Ga.; daughter, Kathy (Bob) Olsen, of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, W.E. “Edmond” (Carolyn) Young, Jr., of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Hutson Olsen and Duncan Olsen; two nephews, Will (Dawn) Young of Bobo and David Young of Salina, Kansas; and two great-nephews, Will Young and Andrew Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Young, Sr; and her husband, James E. Furr.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksdale. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow in the Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carnegie Public Library in Clarksdale or to the charity of donor’s choice.

Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
