Rosemary Gaston Bradford

Rosemary Gaston Bradford, 87, a longtime resident of Flowers Manor in Clarksdale, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at her home.

Mrs. Bradford was born in New Orleans on July 7, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlisle Gaston. 

Mrs. Bradford grew up in Gulfport, where she graduated from Gulfport High School. She then attended the University of Mississippi at Oxford and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

For nearly 30 years, Mrs. Bradford worked at Hancock Bank in Gulfport, where she served as personal secretary to the president of the bank, George Schloegel. She retired from Hancock Bank in April of 1996.

In 2005, following Hurricane Katrina, Mrs. Bradford moved to Flowers Manor in Clarksdale.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in both Gulfport and Clarksdale.

Mrs. Bradford is survived by her sister, Carlisle Jones of Clarksdale; a niece, two nephews and their families, R. Hardy Jones, Charles G. Jones (Becky) of Clarksdale, Candy J. Shipp (David) of Sarah, David C. Shipp of Senatobia, Trey Hensley (Carisa), Emma Hensley of Port Angeles, Wash., Amanda Amb (Michael) and Ryleigh and Kiptyn Amb of Portland, N.D.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard N. Bradford.

Mrs. Bradford’s family is forever grateful for the loving attention of her faithful sitters, Joyce Logan, Tometha Logan, Rena Mae Moore and Shawanda Brown.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Flowers Manor from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Sturdivant Room. A private committal service will be held at a later date.

Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
