Willie Allen Williams

Willie Allen Williams, 95, a retired South Central Bell operator for 33 years, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at Methodist University Hospital Central in Memphis, Tenn.

Mrs. Williams was an active member of Clarksdale Baptist Church and the Euzlian Bible Class. She was a member of the Homemaker’s Club and the Woman’s Club. 

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Allen Williams and Derwin Deshay Williams, both of Clarksdale; a sister, Cora Belle Burns of Greenville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert McKinley and Sadie Allen Moore; husband, Harvey D. Williams; son, Harvey Joe Williams; brother, William Robert “Bill” Moore; stepbrothers, Henry A. Vanlandingham and Paul G. Vanlandingham; and a stepsister, Sue Matthews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Clarksdale Baptist Church with funeral services following at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial in the Memorial Gardens cemetery on Highway 6 near Clarksdale.

Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
