Shortly after attending Clarksdale crime forum, man shot during robbery

Less than an hour after he’d attended a community meeting on crime Monday night, a 44-year-old Clarksdale man was shot multiple times during a robbery at his home.

Darry Jenkins sustained several gunshot wounds in the robbery at his residence along the 400 block of Garfield Street.


Sunflower River crests, but high waters remain

It appears the Sunflower River peaked at nearly 22 and a half feet in downtown Clarksdale at about 9 p.m. Sunday before starting a slow withdrawal.

As of 11 a.m. Monday, the river was at 22.35 feet and starting a slow, steady descent, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's river gage located at downtown Clarksdale.

Rebbie Buckley

Rebbie Buckley, 98, of Charleston, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at her home.

William Hunter Rutland, 88, a gin man and farmer, died April 27, 2019 at his home. Visitation is Monday, April 29, 2019, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale.



Frenchie Esau Genola Feather

Frenchie Esau Genola Feather, 95, of Saltillo, and formerly of Clarksdale, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Aug.13, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.Mrs. Feather was born on July 14, 1924, in Linn,  the youngest child of the late Simon Esau Genola and Olive Beevers Genola.


Two former county supervisors Burrel, Furr remembered

Two longstanding members of the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors, who made contributions to the community for many decades, died Friday, March 8.

Katherine Furr, 89, who represented District 5 on the board for 15 years, died late Friday.

Timothy Burrel, 76, who represented District 3 for 19 years, died earlier in the day.
