As COVID-19 cases fall, Clarksdale considers mandatory masks

While COVID-19 is still out there, Mississippi is reporting single digit fatality numbers again and Coahoma County has only had six new cases in a week.

The Clarksdale Board of Mayor and Commissioner will consider making people in the public wear masks at it regular board meeting Monday.

Cora Lee Slaughter, 90, of Clarksdale died June 6, 2020 at her residence.

Public viewing is 2 to 5 p.m. June 11, 2020 at Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at noon June 12, 2020 at Heavenly Rest Cemetery with Pastor Freddie DeShazer presiding.

Arrangements are entrusted Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home.

St. Elizabeth School's backpack project helps feed area school children

Students from St. Elizabeth Catholic School are participating in a “backpack project” to help feed needy children who would otherwise have to go hungry all weekend.

This is the third year of the project and Immaculate Conception and St. Elizabeth Catholic churches partnered to make it happen.
