City eases shutdown restrictions under direction of Governor

Clarksdale will be under executive orders at least one more week as the Board of Mayor and Commissioners decided to mirror the state’s leadership and follow the Governor's guidelines.

“We are in the midst of the second wave of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi,” said Clarksdale Mayor Chuck Espy. “We have seen an uptick and I want to remind people roaming around, if you don’t have essential business to do, go home.”

County boys set to take on Potts Camp at 3 p.m. Friday

The Coahoma County High School boys are one game away from winning their third Class 2A state championship in four years.

Potts Camp, a former division opponent, is the one team standing in the way of the Red Panthers (23-10, 9-1). The Cardinals and Red Panthers will face off in the state championship at 3 p.m. Friday at Ole Miss.



Larry Earl Bradley

Larry Earl Bradley, 66, of Athens, Ala., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 in Huntsville, Ala.

Mr. Bradley was born Nov. 11, 1953 in Helena, Ark. He was a retired Engineer at Redstone Arsenal and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.


McGriff firing a belated Thanksgiving gift for fans

Color McGriff McGone! Gifts are not required on Thanksgiving, but Matt Luke gave me and all Ole Miss fans a big gift the Friday after Thanksgiving when he fired Rebel defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff.

I hate to see anyone lose their job, especially in these hard economic times. But, I’ll make an exception in McGriff’s case.
