Broomfield leads way as Lady Wildcats win district

Senior guard Patrice Broomfield was the leading scorer in both games as the Clarksdale High School girls won the district tournament championship in Greenwood last week.

Winning the tournament put the Lady Wildcats (20-8, 7-1) in the Class 4A playoffs and they opened with a 59-24 win at home against North Pontotoc Monday night.



Charles Sykes

Charles Sykes, 58, of Clarksdale died Friday, Feb. 14, 2020 at Long Lake at Friars Point on Highway 1.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at Delta Burial Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 at Delta Burial Funeral Home’s Chapel

Martha Mae Wilder Jenkins, 78, of Clarksdale died Oct. 25, 2019 at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Union Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Sammie Collins will officiate. Burial is at  Carr’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at Century Funeral Home.
