ESPNTom All-State Basketball honorees announced

Coahoma Early College High School assistant basketball coach Thomas Williams Sr., whose nickname is “ESPNTom,” is recognizing achievements of players in Coahoma County with his first ESPNTom All-State Basketball Team for the 2019-20 season.

Williams Sr. named one team for the boys and another for the girls with 10 athletes each.

Willie D. Peace, 77, of Chicago, Ill., died at his residence March 17, 2020.

Funeral services are noon Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church in Dublin with pastor Charlie Pace presiding. Burial is at Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Dublin. Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2020.


Robert Earl Burnside

Robert Earl Burnside, Sr., 69, born March 25, 1950, died at his home March 5, 2020.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale with the Rev. Luster Tyler officiating. Burial is at McLaurin Cemetery in Lyon. Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020.



PANNY MAYFIELD: Stay home, read a book, watch the news, stay safe

CLARKSDALE, Miss. –  On the sixth day of a 15-day plan to slow Corona Virus spreading, Americans were urged “to stay at home and save lives” by the White House task force during its press conference at noon Saturday.

States under official lockdown orders include New York, California, Washington.

Larry Earl Bradley, 66, of Athens, Ala., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 in Huntsville, Ala.

Mr. Bradley was born Nov. 11, 1953 in Helena, Ark. He was a retired Engineer at Redstone Arsenal and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

Rosemary Gaston Bradford, 87, a longtime resident of Flowers Manor in Clarksdale, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at her home.

Mrs. Bradford was born in New Orleans on July 7, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlisle Gaston.
