Donald McBride, 72, born May 29, 1947, died Feb. 15, 2020 at V.A. Hospital in Memphis.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale with the Rev. L.C. Tyler presiding. Burial is at McLaurin Cemetery in Clarksdale. Visitation is noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020.


Martha Hatchett

Martha Hatchett, 74, of Clarksdale died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020 at Merit Health Hospital in Clarksdale.

A viewing will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 at Delta Burial Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksdale.


Clifford Morrison

Clifford Morrison, 60, from Clarksdale died Feb. 13, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Feb. 22, 2020 at First Apostolic Faith Temple with Elder Samuel Melton presiding. Burial is at McLaurin Memorial Garden. Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020.

FLOYD INGRAM: Look at downtown Clarksdale

Clarksdale really has a lot of good things going on downtown and that was evident in the first festival of the year this past weekend.

I’ve never been a movie buff or video buff in the current lingo, but we are a visual, video culture. It was great to see downtown Clarksdale full of tourist again Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Sunflower River crests, but high waters remain

It appears the Sunflower River peaked at nearly 22 and a half feet in downtown Clarksdale at about 9 p.m. Sunday before starting a slow withdrawal.

As of 11 a.m. Monday, the river was at 22.35 feet and starting a slow, steady descent, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's river gage located at downtown Clarksdale.

Coahoma Community College hosted the 2018 Youth Football Camp sponsored by Families First for Mississippi. More than 80 youths ages 6-13 attended the camp. Th majority of the participants came from throughout the Mississippi Delta to learn the game of football and the game of life.
