Dollie Mae Blue, 67, of Clarksdale died at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis Saturday, April 4, 2020.

Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Lyon. The family is officiating the ceremony. Burial is at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Lyon. Visitation is at graveside.

Coahoma County virus count at 26 as of Friday

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Coahoma County rose by four Friday and now stands at 26 after the county first reported two cases on March 18.

There still have not been any Coahoma County deaths attributed to COVID-19. With the community now 17-days into the pandemic, it is apparent some of those 26 have gotten well.

Katherine Furr

Katherine Furr, 89, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at her home in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Katherine loved serving Coahoma County for 16 years as a county supervisor. She was a very dedicated lady.



Noel Monaghan Russell

Noel Monaghan Russell, 63, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, in Stuart, Fla., from complications from a heart attack he suffered several days earlier.

Noel was born in Clarksdale on June 24, 1955, to Mr. and Mrs.  James A. Russell, Jr. and raised on his family’s farm near Jonestown.
