Fatalities mar Mississippi Thanksgiving Holiday

Mississippi recorded one of its worst Thanksgiving holiday highway safety enforcement periods this year, with 10 fatalies reported on state highways and roads.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol concluded its 2019 Thanksgiving holiday enforcement period began Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 12:01 a.m. and ended Sunday, Dec 1 at midnight.


Golf tournament: American Legion auction provides opportunity to play on professional course

The Cooper Yerger Post 28 of the American Legion Golf Tournament’s auction at the Clarksdale Country Club on Saturday provided an opportunity to play at the TPC Southwind course in Memphis.

That was one of many rewards the tournament provided.


Students get chance to see inner workings of Clarksdale city government

Dr. Mary Frances Dear-Moton, president/CEO of Family and Youth Opportunities Division Inc., wanted to take her summer job readiness program students for ages 15 and 16 on a field trip this year.

The funds were unavailable, so Moton decided to take everyone to Clarksdale city hall and meet elected officials Thursday morning.
