Authorities search for missing inmate in Clarksdale

The Mississippi Department of Corrections is looking for Quitman County Community Work Center Inmate Walter Lee Lewis.                                                                                                                

Lewis, 31, was last seen around 1:05 p.m. Thursday at a jobsite in Clarksdale.

Spring Initiative students spending Spring Break in Nashville

Big Spring, which is a group of seventh- through 10th-graders in the local Spring Initiative program, are spending Wednesday and Thursday in Nashville as part of their spring break in an effort to expand their horizons.

All 14 children will be participating in the High Ropes obstacle course, which is a team-building exercise.



Work on new bus facility for county schools could begin in spring '19

Preliminary work for a $2.5 million bus maintenance facility for the county school system continues to move ahead.

The project is scheduled to go out for bids this spring and be completed within 10 to 12 months after construction begins, said William T. Mills, the principal architect at Mills & Mills Architects in Tupelo.



Ann Tomlinson Barnett

GERMANTOWN, TENN.—Ann Tomlinson Barnett, 93, of Germantown, Tenn., passed away Oct. 29, 2019 at Regional One Health Medical Center. Born in Helena, Ark. on Jan. 22, 1926 to Mr. & Mrs. E.P. Tomlinson, she grew up in Clarksdale.
