Albert Holman Williams, 76, born in Davenport on April 20, 1944, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was a Clarksdale resident and graduated from Coahoma Agricultural High School (“Aggie”). He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Tugaloo College.



City eases shutdown restrictions under direction of Governor

Clarksdale will be under executive orders at least one more week as the Board of Mayor and Commissioners decided to mirror the state’s leadership and follow the Governor's guidelines.

“We are in the midst of the second wave of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi,” said Clarksdale Mayor Chuck Espy. “We have seen an uptick and I want to remind people roaming around, if you don’t have essential business to do, go home.”



Sammy L. Cotton

Sammy L. Cotton, 67, of Clarksdale died May 30, 2020 at his residence. Public viewing is 2 to 5 p.m. June 5, 2020 at Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Heavenly Rest Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. June 6, 2020 with Pastor Kenny Watson presiding.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home.

Freddie Lenard Sr., 72, Clarksdale died March 17, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Public viewing is 2 to 5 p.m. May 22, 2020 at Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at noon May 23, 2020 at Springfield Cemetery with pastor James Bennett presiding.  Arrangements are entrusted Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home.

Garden Club repairs Tennessee Williams signage

The Clarksdale Garden Club met Wednesday, Nov. 13, with several items of business discussed at the home of Mary Martha Bobo with Sue Anne Hughes and Jenn Mohead as hostesses.

Business conducted included approval to provide funds for the repainting of the Tennessee Williams Park signage and the light post in the Park.
