Lifelong Clarksdale resident, Richard Winston “Wimpy” Gilbert, 89, passed away on May 20, 2020, at N.W.R.M.C. He graduated from Clarksdale High School, Delta State College and the School of Banking at LSU.  He was retired from United Southern Bank as a Senior Vice-President.


City eases shutdown restrictions under direction of Governor

Clarksdale will be under executive orders at least one more week as the Board of Mayor and Commissioners decided to mirror the state’s leadership and follow the Governor's guidelines.

“We are in the midst of the second wave of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi,” said Clarksdale Mayor Chuck Espy. “We have seen an uptick and I want to remind people roaming around, if you don’t have essential business to do, go home.”

Mary Wheasler Meredith, 95, a homemaker from Lyon, died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 at Lyon Methodist Church in Lyon. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 at Lyon Methodist Church in Lyon with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery.



Larry Earl Bradley

Larry Earl Bradley, 66, of Athens, Ala., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 in Huntsville, Ala.

Mr. Bradley was born Nov. 11, 1953 in Helena, Ark. He was a retired Engineer at Redstone Arsenal and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
