Danny “Kirk” O’Briant, 42, of Lexa, Ark., passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Lexa.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Lexa Baptist Church with Brother Tommy Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Thomas M. “Tom” Kimbro, 78, passed away early Tuesday morning April 23, 2019 at Northwest Mississippi Medical Center in Clarksdale.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2019, from 10 a.m. until service beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Interment to follow in Marks Cemetery.

State Supreme Court issues ruling in costly conflict between city, county

Residents in two areas north of Clarksdale will continue to be county residents and not be annexed into the city after a ruling issued by the state’s highest court last week.

The ruling apparently puts an end to a land tussle that dates back eight years and could end up costing local taxpayers nearly $1.5 million.


Incumbent Webster faces challenger Felton for circuit court judge's seat

Charlie Webster, 64, is running for his fourth term as circuit court judge.

Webster, a 1972 Clarksdale High School graduate, graduated from Mississippi State University in 1976 and Ole Miss law school in 1979.

“Born and raised here,” Webster said. “Lived here all my life. It is my community.”

Shortly after attending Clarksdale crime forum, man shot during robbery

Less than an hour after he’d attended a community meeting on crime Monday night, a 44-year-old Clarksdale man was shot multiple times during a robbery at his home.

Darry Jenkins sustained several gunshot wounds in the robbery at his residence along the 400 block of Garfield Street.
