Clarksdale native Dr. Reed Hogan proposes treatment for COVID-19

JACKSON -- It began with a treatment for skin inflammation. Then, Reed Hogan II, MD, began pondering if an inexpensive, available, over-the-counter treatment might also work in severe gastrointestinal illness, much of it caused by inflammation.

The Clarksdale native was seeing success. Then, COVID-19 hit.

Robert Lloyd Bailey, Jr., died on the twenty-first of January 2020, after a long illness.  Bob was the son of the late Robert Lloyd Bailey and Frances Sumner Bailey whose grandfather established the town of Sumner.  Bob was preceded in death by his cousins, June Sumner Glenn of Crawfordsville, Ark.; Taylor Sumner Spradling of Clarksdale; Joy Su

Clifford Morrison, 60, from Clarksdale died Feb. 13, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Feb. 22, 2020 at First Apostolic Faith Temple with Elder Samuel Melton presiding. Burial is at McLaurin Memorial Garden. Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020.




Curtis D. Morton

Curtis D. Morton, 57, both in September 1962, died Feb. 13, 2020 in Nebraska.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at Mt. Oliver Church in Jonestown with the Rev. Coleman presiding. Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 at Century Funeral Home.

Century Funeral Home is handling arrangements.


Thomas Winfred Moreland

Thomas Winfred Moreland, 81, a retired Shop Foreman for Temperature Control, died June 25, 2020 at Northwest Mississippi Medical Center. Visitation is 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Graveside services are 4 p.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens in Lyon.
